Training is where Reger Laser started. Before founding the company in 2007, Jason Reger spent seven years at Metal Processing Systems as lead field engineer, writing CAD programs and post processors for new equipment and training the engineers who came after him. The sessions we run today come from that same playbook: hands-on, on the machine, written down so it sticks.
The goal is simple: your team keeps the machine running your production without waiting on a service call for things they could handle themselves.
Good operator training covers three things at once, and skipping any one of them costs you scrap, downtime, or an injury, usually in that order.
Cut setup. Reading the first cut instead of the production report. Picking the right nozzle, focus position, assist gas, and cutting condition for the material and thickness on the table. Recognizing a change in the spark, a rougher edge, or a nozzle that took a hit, and stopping to fix it before the scrap pile grows.
Machine care. The daily and weekly checks that keep the laser healthy: the cover glass or protective window, the nozzle, the chiller, the slats and bellows, and the assist gas supply. The operator who does these every shift is the one who prevents most quality calls.
Laser safety. An enclosed machine is Class 1 in normal use, but the source inside it is Class 4. ANSI Z136.1 and OSHA guidance set the baseline for industrial laser users, and every operator needs to know what the enclosure and interlocks are protecting them from and why they are never bypassed.
Machine setup, material and cutting condition selection, running programs, and recognizing when a cut is going wrong. Taught on your machine, with your material, so nothing gets lost between a classroom and the floor.
The daily and weekly checks that keep a laser healthy: optics, nozzles, assist gas, chiller, lubrication, and what to watch for so small problems do not become big ones. Comes with a written checklist your team signs off each shift.
