Parts for Tanaka LMX and LMRV Laser Cutting Machines

Reger Laser supplies parts for the Tanaka LMX family of CO2 laser cutting machines, from the LMX I through the LMX VIIZ, along with the LMRV and LMRVZ series. If your machine is on the list below, call us with the model and serial number and the part you need.

Tanaka completed its first laser cutting machine in 1979 and put an oscillator-integrated machine for medium and thick plate on the market in 1989. The LMR and LMX lines that followed are the CO2 workhorses of plate cutting, and a lot of them are still in production today. As a Tanaka dealer that also services these machines in the field, we know which parts fit which generation and which ones changed between series. That matters on an older LMX, where the wrong nozzle or o-ring kit can cost you a week waiting on a replacement.

If you run one of the newer fiber machines, see the FMRII, FMZIII, and FMRIII pages.

What Is on a Tanaka LMR and LMX Machine

The LMR series was built for medium to thick mild steel plate, with a compact body and a Fanuc CO2 oscillator. Later LMRV machines carry 4kW or 6kW oscillators, and the LMRV-TF6000 cuts mild steel up to 32 mm using SANLASER GAS TF2 and the GOS gas optimization system that adjusts the shield gas mixture automatically. Effective cutting widths run from 2,700 to 5,600 mm depending on the model, which is why these machines are usually the biggest thing on the floor.

The systems that generate parts requests track that design. The Fanuc resonator has discharge tubes, a turbo blower, a Roots blower, o-ring sets, and a high voltage power supply. Beam delivery has mirrors, a focus lens, and the LRC motorized focus adjusting unit. The cutting head has nozzles, ceramic parts, and the non-contact height sensor with its sensor cables. Around the machine sit the Orion chiller, the fume extraction, and the Fanuc control with its memory and I/O. Features you will see on used listings, like the piercing sensor, HBS-II self-burning detection, and AICC contouring control, each have their own hardware too.

Commonly Requested Parts

The parts that move most often are the ones that wear every shift, and many are stocked in our online parts shop:

  • Consumables: nozzles, focus lenses and mirrors, cover glass, ceramic rings and nozzle holders, sensor cables, insulators, o-rings, filters, and chiller chemicals.
  • Resonator parts: discharge tubes, turbo and Roots blower rebuild components, o-ring sets, and power supply components, quoted by resonator model.
  • Machine parts: height sensor components, LRC units, drive components, bellows, and slats.
  • Chiller parts: pumps, filters, and consumables for the Orion chillers that ship with these machines.

Resonator components, drive parts, and control hardware are quoted by model and serial number so the right part ships the first time. If the part you need is tied to a bigger problem, our resonator repair and preventive maintenance teams can look at the machine, not just the part.

Stocking Spares So the Machine Never Waits

Laser parts fall into two groups, and treating them the same is what gets shops into trouble. Fast-moving consumables, like nozzles, cover glass, and ceramics, wear out predictably and should be stocked deep with a reorder point set from your own 30 to 90 day usage. Critical long-lead parts, like a blower, a power supply board, or a height sensor, rarely fail, but when they do the machine stops and the replacement is slow to arrive. Carry safety stock of the ones your machine has a history with.

The cheapest part on the shelf is the one that keeps a machine from sitting idle. Match optics to genuine specification: an off-spec cover glass can damage the focus lens behind it. Our parts team can build a stocking list from your maintenance log, and our spare parts guide walks through the method.

How to Order

  1. Have the machine model and serial number ready. On a Tanaka the serial identifies the generation, and the generation decides the part.
  2. Describe the part, or send a photo and any part number from the old component to [email protected].
  3. We confirm fit and send a quote. If the part is not stocked, we tell you the lead time before you commit.

Not sure whether the part is the problem? Our technicians answer the phone at 847-897-4811 and can help you diagnose before you buy.

Tanaka Parts Questions

We support the full LMX line, including the early series. Call with the model and serial number and we will tell you what we can supply.

Yes. Send a photo of the component and any markings on it to [email protected] and we will identify it.

Yes. Our parts shop carries consumables for many brands, including Mitsubishi, Amada, Bystronic, Trumpf, Mazak, and Precitec cutting heads, and we source parts for the machines we service.

Resonator components are quoted by resonator model and serial number. Tell us what the machine is doing and we will tell you what it needs and how fast we can get it.

Yes. Many parts are operator-replaceable and we will walk you through it on the phone. For resonator, drive, and sensor work, our service team can install and verify the part on site.
